It’s time to “DIVORCE” your scale…

Good morning Boot Campers!!!

 

And what a gorgeous morning it is!!!  The perfect autum morning for REALLY stunning fitness training, outside… on the grass… in the sand on the beach… at home in your garden… ANYWHERE!!! :-D

 

I’ve been to have a little “tantrum” about something for a while now…  And those of you who know me personally will understand my passion with regards to this issue…  And the issue is – YOUR NON-STOP OBSESSION ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU WEIGH!!!

 

scaleGuys – its time to chuck that scale out!!!  Forever!!!  Just get rid of it; as while you have it in your house, you WILL be tempted to hop onto it, let’s be honest with ourselves here.  I am not just talking to the ladies here, I know some men that are totally obsessed with those digits on the scale!!!  And you KNOW that daily weigh ins are totally pointless, as (1) your weight fluctuates from day to day and (2) HOW MUCH you weigh has absolutely nothing to do with the topic we are concerned with which is FAT LOSS and BODY COMPOSITION.

 

Your normal “run of the mill” scale also cannot detect losses in body fat and muscle mass gains, which brings me to another topic.  Always remember that muscle mass weighs three times MORE than fat tissue as it is three times more dense.  Thus, 1kg of muscle will be “smaller” as opposed to 1kg of fat tissue, this is why you might weigh MORE as per your scale, but you KNOW you are losing centimeters as your clothes fit better or they are loose on you, your muscle tone improves, “loose skin” feels and looks tighter and more toned.

 

I am totally aware that it freaks some people out when you are on a “weight loss program” and you appear to be “gaining” weight!!!  But guys, GUYS…. Let’s move away from this archaic way of thinking and let’s call this something different!  From now onwards we will be referring to a “FAT LOSS PROGRAM” – and our aim will be to change our body composition – i.e. Low Body Fat and High Muscle Mass!!!

 

So there you have it!  Toss out that scale – it is just an evil LIAR!!!  Your focus must be on FAT LOSS not WEIGHT LOSS; and we must always do it the healthy way thorugh a balanced eating plan that is low in fat and high in proper nutrients, and through exercising at LEAST 3 – 4 times a week every week!!!

 

What you eat is very important as is WHEN you eat.  We all know that your meals must be balanced, AND that we should be eating 5 – 6 smaller meals per day as opposed to 3 large meals.  Thus, the same amount of calories, but spread out over more and smaller quantities.  This way we retrain our metabolism as it has to work constantly to digest the food we eat, AND our blood sugar levels are more regulated, thus a quicker metabolism, better fat loss and waaaaaaaaaay more energy!!

 

At Extreme Boot Camp we can assist you with BOTH your exercise regime and with advise on sustainable healthy eating – as we have banned the “D”-word from Boot Camp, to us the word “DIET” is a swear word!!!  We eat healthy – we never DIET!!!
